Gesticulate Your Blackjack Play
Seldom do we encounter blackjack players who say "hit me" nowadays. Over time, betting has become more of a silent action rather than a vocal one. It's probably because when our chips are down, we'd rather deal with it quietly.
On the other hand, when our chips are high, we'd rather not sing our own praises. Whatever the reason, dealers do understand what we want with just gestures and that's certainly more important. To anyone who wants to join in on the silent play, here's how players gesticulate their actions to the blackjack dealer.
A stand or a hit are common blackjack actions. When you want to stand, just wave your cards on the table. When you want a hit, just tap your pointer finger next to your cards. Be careful with the finger-tapping though, you wouldn't want to accidentally tap for more cards or else you'll bust. If you decide to stand after getting the cards you want, just raise your palm to face the dealer just like you're halting an incoming car when you're crossing the street. That hand signal universally means stop anyway so there's no rocker science there.
The other blackjack signals involve moving your chips around. That's the case with the double or a split. If you opt to double, players rarely say that they want to do it. They'll just place an equal wager by their first wager. Another example is with a split. Players who split their cards will place an equal wager a little farther away from the first wager than with a double. Since players are dealt two cards facing upward, one only separates the pair for the split and places the second bet by the other card.
It's interesting to see blackjack players go about the card game without a word. They look like experts who know what they're doing. This affirms the idea that people often believe what they see, so perception does come into play. So, if you're not really an experienced blackjack player just yet but you want to look the part, just gesticulate for your play. Wave your cards to stand and tap your finger on the table for a hit. If you forget to stop, just halt the action by facing your palm towards the dealer. Move your chips for a double or a split. But remember to move the second bet farther if you're splitting cards. Just perform these gestures and you'll be playing the game looking like a pro in no time.
